The Tragedy of TIME. (Fear written in, upon realizing my limitations: 1993)

The TIME I don’t have - the time I don’t have..
deterring me from LOVE itself, is but the time I don’t have.

What I would do, to be with you - to teach you, guide you, help you through.
What I would pay to hold your hand - my legs would crumble, help me stand.
What I would give to see your sighs - to hear your laughter and your cries..
to share with you the little time - I WISH I HAD, that I don’t have….

When comes the day I EARN this time: I’ll fly your way, to CLAIM you mine..
and there DISCOVER - to my horror - that there is time, that YOU don’t have..

At least 100 janitors are walking the picket lines this morning at some of Silicon Valley’s largest high-tech companies - including Cisco Systems and Apple - in protest of a contract offer they are calling “totally unacceptable.” Contract talks for more than 6,000 janitors in Silicon Valley ended Friday with a “take it or leave it offer,” said Mike Garcia, president of the 28,000-member janitors’ union. The offer fell short of agreements the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1877 had reached in other parts of the state, Garcia said, and his members voted Saturday to reject it and go on strike. Also read “Silicon Valley Silhouette…booming or busting” written roughly a year back by our staff contributor. The situation then is pretty much the same for the unskilled, low-income labor. Amidst the exponentially rising cost of living, triggered most recently by energy prices, life here in the Wadi, for the vast majority of unskilled labor is a tough bird to swallow.

This makes for an interesting read!

Sunday, May 18, 2008: South Asians in Silicon Valley had a big weekend with both TiEcon 2008 (The Indus Entrepreneurs Convention) and HDF (Human Development Foundation) holding their annual events. These events brought out the powerful, rich and famous with origins in the sub-continent including former Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Lord Nazir Ahmad and celebrity politician Tariq Aziz. While Mr. Shaukat Aziz was the keynote speaker on Thursday evening at the TiE Global charter member reception, the Human Development Foundation annual fundraiser was addressed by Lord Nazir Ahmad and Tariq Aziz, Ethan Casey among others.

After a long and full weekend at TiEcon 2008 and HDF events. Not to mentioning the wonderful and enjoyable time I spent with CalFriends in San Francisco it wasn’t easy hitting the laptop, and getting some work done. So I decided to venture out to Palo Alto. Ended up at the University Cafe where I was received by a cold and rude manager. Following is my review cross- posted on Yelp:

The establishment is severely overrated. No denying, the food is great here though over priced for the low-quality service you get. The waiters here are poorly trained, can barely speak a word of English. Not to mention their manager could do with a little training in the social graces as he was extremely rude, almost trying to order me around, telling where I can’t site. What the F***, how dare he tell me what I can and cannot do. I am the customer and have a right to pick my ideal seating. I came here for an elegant and classy place to sit and get some work done.

For Pakistan, May 12, 2007 was a momentous–and a depressing–day. If violence has always been a part of the Pakistani politics then the Karachi carnage of May 12 was the ugliest manifestation of that fact. It was the day when Pakistan’s military ruler decided to break the momentum of a growing opposition by charging his political proponents to tackle the lawyers’ movement. Over forty people died on May 12 but the strategy of scaring people with violence backfired. Opposition to Pervez Musharraf grew even stronger and Musharraf was forced to make several concessions.
Friends of South Asia, a group of Bay Area watchers of South Asian politics, observed May 12 by holding a talk and a discussion on Sunday, May 11. The commemorative program featured eminent Pakistani-American law professor Tayyab Mahmud as the main speaker and Ijaz Syed, Javed Ellahie, and Dabbir Tirmizi as panelists who discussed various facets of the Pakistani judicial crisis. The program was titled “Pakistan’s Judicial Crisis and Remembering Karachi May 12 carnage.”
Tayyab Mahmud in his speech said that the Pakistani coup d’etat of 2007 was unique in the world history, because unlike other coups that one was staged to oust judges. Mahmud also said that the Pakistani events of last year should be seen in the bigger context of developing world’s response to the western hegemony.
In the panel discussion Javed Ellahie said that the lawyers’ movement in which roughly five thousand lawyers achieved a lot for the whole nation was unprecedented in the history of Pakistan. Dabbir Tirmizi said his party, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, did not have any hope in either Nawaz Sharif or Asif Zardari in instating impartial judiciary in Pakistan. Ijaz Syed apprised audience of the latest political situation and said that if the coalition of PPP and PML(N) breaks apart on the issue of deposed judges, then things would move towards the original “deal” that US wanted to broker between PPP and Pervez Musharraf.
With the crisis around the deposed judges dragging on, Friends of South Asia (FOSA) plans on arranging similar programs to raise political awareness on Pakistan among the local population.

I now think of me as I am..
a maturing thought - yet realizing itself.

no longer dreams anymore. So many of them.
My dreams have the ability to alter reality, see?
So many toys I have today are the result of wishes.
So many joys of mine are outcomes of dreams -
and these dreams - children of desires screamed!

I remember grieving over the Commodore 64,
and now what do I play with? Mac OS X galore!
Windows 3.1 showed possibility, but left me wanting more,
So I asked for it to change, and it became Vista via M.E!
I desired the means to share thoughts across time,
and now we have the web & blogging, beyond MIME.

I remember missing my baby sister, beloved she.
And now I am blessed to be father to a her and a he!
So now that I know that my dreams create -
they create the future and the history of time..
Why don’t I then employ them to Liberate -
this future, so beloved, beyond the curtain blind?
~
Help the new age that arrives, as yours and mine,
straight from the Source, through intention divine!
Which we are! You can see: it is so! Here are we.
And my desire -my burning need- I say is One.
I wish to attain that single most worthy of goals..
I seek to KNOW -to remain in union with- ALL *.*

So that when I go, its not so much a departure..
as it is an arrival - to the place of my desires.
And what, do you ask, is the place of my desires?
It is the state of connectedness to the source of ALL *.*
And what, do you think I mean by these elusive words?
I mean exactly what Rumi meant, when he spoke of being more.
